Alpha chi omega
Alpha Chi Omega was founded at DePauw University located in Greencastle, Indiana. The dean of DePauw’s School of Music encouraged seven female students to form a women’s society. Alpha Chi Omega was the 10th women’s fraternity to be formed in the United States, the first of which to be formed at a music school. Members commit to the values of Alpha Chi Omega; wisdom, devotion, and achievement following their initiation. Their value of commitment becomes increasingly important once members reach alumnae status. The purpose of Alpha Chi Omega is as follows, “to encourage the spirit of true sisterhood, to develop through personal effort a high moral and mental standard, and to advance the appreciation and practice of the fine arts among its members.”
Recently, the Kappa Pi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega was the recipient of the 2024 Bradley Cup, the highest honor for a sorority chapter on the UNCW campus.
